How to Navigate Change in Your Business
By Kim I. Plyler

As a close colleague once told me, “Kim, if you’re not experiencing some type of transition, you are not growing.”   We all go through changes just like summer turns to fall.  But in business how do you navigate those times while still maintaining the company, and running your life?

True confessions:  Over the past 18-months I have been transitioning my company into a new business model.  For the past 10 years, we have helped develop narratives for business brands, for individuals and non-profits.  As a public relations firm, outreach to the media is where we shine. However, over the past 10 years, the media landscape has changed drastically and we morphed with it.

Now our company helps people master their stories and share them with the world.  Our new platform offering “Master Your Story” helps us improve the world by developing and launching the stories of those who are improving humanity and the planet.

So how did we do it?  Here’s where the three “Es” come into play.  First, Evaluate.  Take time to assess where you are and visualize where you want to be.  Second, Educate. Take time to train yourself and your team on areas needed to make the transition from where you are and to where you want to be.  Third, Endure. Prepare to be able to handle learning about yourself, learning from mistakes, and not giving up.  The answer truly lies within you.  Take the time to evaluate, educate and you will endure.
